Sounds like my Latin..took a year of it in high school.still remember how to say things such as "the lieutenant is behind the farm house" and "the farmer is in the woods" and other equally helpful has been useful in understanding word origins in both English and Spanish..

When I was ten I got it into my head to learn Esperanto. Today all I can remember is 'La libro kusas sur la tablo' which is very useful if I have to say 'the book is lying on the table' - so yes, useless information has a tendency to stick to the mind when things that one should remember are sure to be buried so deep that no amount of digging will bring them back...

I'm not so educated, I just have the Apple translator widget. I did take a semester of Russian back in high school, mostly to piss off the ROTC types that were taking the language course to further their career in the military. Today I can say only the words: hello, goodbye, friend, yes, no, and the phrase 'through the window.' I know the last because phonetically that phrase is 'fa okno.' --Another odd bit of useless information that stuck with me for no good reason --

Thanks for the translation, JS! Do you speak Russian? ...wish I did, would love to read some Russian literary classics in the original language. Perhaps one day...
