Skip said that the race "...goes on all day Wednesday" and that can be confusing. It depends on which time zone you live in whether you have “all day Wednesday” or not.  The race starts 9 p.m. GMT on Tuesday and ends 9 p.m. GMT on Wednesday. Examples of the race 24 hrs in LOCAL TIMES around the world: In Melbourne, Australia, the race begins at 8 a.m. on Wednesday and ends at 8 a.m. on Thursday. In Madrid, Spain, the race begins at 10 p.m. on Tuesday and ends at 10 p.m. on Wednesday. In New York, USA, the race begins at 4 p.m. on Tuesday and ends at 4 p.m. on Wednesday. In Los Angeles, USA, the race begins at 1 p.m. on Tuesday and ends at 1 p.m. on Wednesday. GMT remains the same all year around. If you live in a country where they have Daylight Saving Time, then recheck your local time against the GMT time when that change occurs in your country. AFRICA ROCKS! Good choice, Skip.

I called it African Safari, because Safari is a hunt, or an expedition and that's sort of like what we do when we hunt for pictures. So "anything" to do with Africa, will be fine. I forgot that St Patricks day was on thursday, or I would have suggested it, so if everyone likes the idea, we could have another theme that day showing the beauty of Ireland.

Theme Africa or Theme African Safari is two different things. Africa makes it wide open...would mean landscape, weather, its people, animals, homes, architecture, export/import etc etc. African Safari is showing people (locals & tourists), on safaris, their accommodations and the animals they encounter - its more restrictive. Perhaps you could be more specific....saves a lot of complaints.

Hi Bill ! What and how you post will depend on what you aim to achieve. If you don't care whether your photos stay on the site or get voted down, then nothing really matters much. Post what you want and forget it. If, however, you'd like your posts to stay up ( meaning: get some plus votes ) then there are a few things you should do. First, be selective. Shoot lots of pics, and pick only the best to post. Lots of pros shoot 40 or 50 or more shots to get one keeper. That was tedious and expensive in the days of film but with digital it's a snap. Then, edit and crop as needed to get the best composition possible. Also, give as much information as possible, such as the names of birds or flowers, the locations, etc. If you shoot your own photos and post them here and they become popular you'll be a member of a very small and exclusive club. Good luck ! One final word of advice: stay away from the comment section. Even the most innocent and innocuous comment can be construed as negative and threatening by people who are paranoid and mentally and/or emotionally disturbed. Every village has its idiot and this community is no expection . In fact, we have more than our share!

Thanks Eeyore, I was thinking African Safari, like landscapes, people, traditions, wild animals. I think we have quite a few options with that. So it starts tuesday night, depending on where you live, and goes on all day wednesday...lets have some fun people... :)

I have been visiting Pixdaus for about 2 months now. I am a nature enthusiast, spending lots of time in the countryside and taking photos. I would very much like to start posting my photos on this site, but what I have seen so far does not encourage me greatly. There are too many photos that do not give any information about the pictures although someone must have taken them, right? Please, someone, give me the guidelines and rules I woud need to post my photos on this site.

Choosing the theme for the next race is fast becoming a dubious honor and I hate to do this to you, Skip, put I am passing that honor to you. I had already quit posting pics here till the new platform is in, but peeked in one day and got tempted to post a few pics for the spring race. Not again. The Bitching Club is holding its weekly meeting again, I see. The members of the club consist of people whose primary colors are green and yellow: Green for envy and yellow for not writing the comments under their user names. Skip, please name the theme. Word of advice: On the race day, don't post photos that have even the remotest chance of winning the race! Then you'll be spared all the nasty comments by the members of the BC.

Dear Rules, if you're smart enough to upload and download photos on the internet you're probably smart enough to figure out when 9 pm GMT is where you live. But then again, maybe not.

That's life, Bunny. The voters have spoken and although you and I may not agree with the outcome, it is what it is. Here in my country the people elected Ronald Reagan, Richard Nixon and George W. Bush when there were probably better choices, and here at Pixdaus the people elected this bunny. So be it.

The photographer used a cheap camera or lacks talent - daffodils are out of focus, but the rabbit is cute so it wins and thats fine.

What do mean by when the Pixdaus day starts and ends on a poster's area?
2011-03-11 01:54:36
Why not ? What do you have against donkeys ?
2011-03-11 01:52:14
Eeyore, please resist the temptation to have the next race subject be 'Donkeys!' : )

The race starts at 9 p.m. GMT on Tuesday and ends 9 p.m. GMT on Wednesday. The above gives you the current GMT time, so you can see whether your area's time is ahead or behind it and by how much. 9 p.m. GMT to 9 p.m. GMT is the Pixdaus 24 hrs. If you already are a poster, you must know when the Pixdaus day starts and ends in your area, right?

Nice pic, no complaints. But will someone please explain again the time for race starting and ending ?

I see that Danis has already posted today but has not declared the race winner, so here goes... At the change of the Pixdaus day on Wednesday, 9 p.m. GMT, this was the top race picture with 72 votes. Skip's mill picture was second with 71 votes. Third was Skip, fourth Luna, Robot and Eeyore tied the fifth place. Take it away, Eeyore! Now you trolls can start bitching again :)
