2008-08-30 00:33:27
He was clearly resisting arrest.
2008-05-19 10:41:44
at least he didnt spill his beer. :)
2008-05-18 14:32:06
of course he trew an empty bottle - a full one would be a terrible waste. And he couldn't throw a can because an empty can would bounce right off.

Typical cheap shot from a cop...
2008-05-18 08:54:34
That certainly could be the case..there's no doubt soccer hooligans bring a lot of violence upon themselves..hell, if the cops aren't bashing 'em they bash each can understand it, is so bloody boring that about the only way to have any excitement is to start a fight in the stands or riot after the might be good public policy to have the cops club all English and Scottish soccer fans unconscious immediately PRIOR to each game...that'd cut down on a lot of that damn rowdiness..

do you know the story before? the guy in the white shirt throw an empty bottle in a group of officers!! see the whole story before putting the police down!

To be fair, we don't know what kind of behavior the guy with the beer was exhibiting before this sequence of pictures. He could be an innocent bystander, or he might be ducking behind the phones because he'd just thrown something at the police. One more thing: even with all the action going on in the foreground, I'm surprised that no one's commented about the sign on the first phone booth that reads "RIGHT BEHIND YOU!"

And what is your view of a world without police?
2008-05-18 01:24:22
Police in every country tend ot be fascists..when they are not, it's the exception to the rule...British and Canadian police are perhaps less so than most...remember the old saying: In Heaven the cooks are French, the Mechanics are German, the Lovers are Italian, the police are British, and it's all organized by the Swiss. In Hell the cooks are British, the mechanics are French, the lovers are Swiss, the police are German, and it's all organized by the Italians.

Decking a passive person who may very well just be observing is not excusable. One person's bad behavior ~never~ excuses the punishment of people who just happen to be in proximity or look like they 'might' be in the same group. This guy was clearly doing nothing illegal and could have just been shouted at to leave.

Thanks for the update of the situation Matthew. Agreed, that in certain situations the rioters create havoc and police have to take control. However, their control is more often than not out and out thuggery. They behave worse than criminals. And to cap it all, when there is a complaint against their actions they are exonerated from any wrong-doing, even in the case of murder. The case of the deliberate police murder of Jean Charles de Menezes is the strongest illustration of their corruption and brutality with impunity, which goes up to the level of the Chief Constable.

this was when rangers completely oblierated manchester. the police have every right to use force against these scottish drunks. watch the video of the rangers fans kicking the shit out of the cop the defend them. the cops did one hell of a job keeping that place under control. it couldve gotten a lot worse.

In such situation the British police are often b.stards!
