Yep, your wisdom full me about your age... Not much , but still... That's the sad story of my file, I always miss just a little bit... So if you ever need an opinion that's close to the truth, but never the whole truth, you can always count on me! :)

You´re so right there Connie... Youth in spirit makes you immortal :-)

Well Peasant, at least you got the '30s' right ;-) But it´s actually early 30s :-| :P

No, patito. It's Willie Nelson alright that I'm talking about. Just something about him that I don't like. Not sure what it is. Ricky Nelson is ok, But only in small doses...

You've heard of Willie Nelson but aren't a fan of his music? Hmmmm...are you sure you're not thinking about Ricky Nelson ?

My guess is no age - you are an eternal person ;-)
2009-11-19 14:33:46
I agree with you on that, Connie. My guess is in the 30's too.
2009-11-19 14:32:29
Yes, I've heard of Willie Nelson. Not a fan of his music though.

Willie Nelson! Now, that's a name I know. He's a great singer and great man.

Am not surprised you folks never heard of Asleep at the Wheel...they only won about 9 Grammys..their latest album, Willie and the Wheel, features Willie Nelson..'course I reckon ya'll probably never heard of him either......but if you'd like to hear what some real old time Texas music sounds like, try this..enter 'youtube asleep at the wheel' in your search engine and listen to their rendition of the old Bob Wills tune Cherokee Maiden...

Guess how old I am ;) :P

I'm in my early 60s and I've never heard of them. They must have played only in the towns of Hicksville, Texas and Bubba, Arkansas. Maybe even in Cowtown, Missouri; but most certainly not Motown ;-)

Same with me too, patito. I'm in my early 50's and I've never heard of any of these people...
2009-11-18 15:46:22
I agree, jujuba.. :)
2009-11-18 04:38:42
Sorry, haven´t heard of any of them patito :-S But then, I guess we´re from different generations ;-)

Anybody remember Dow Jones and the Industrials? Or Sherwin Williams and the Kem Tones ? How 'bout the old Austin band called Man Mountain and the Green Slime Boys? Or the all-girl band called the Child-Bearing Hips ? The best of the Old-Time-Austin bands were , of course, Asleep at the Wheel ( comin' right at ya' ) and Kinky Friedman and the Texas Jewboys, famous across the Lonestar State for hits like "I'm Proud To Be An Asshole From El Paso" and their feminist anthem "Get Your Biscuits In The Oven And Your Buns In The Bed." Kinky has since retired from the music business ,entered politics, and ran against Rick "Good Hair" Perry in the last gubernatorial election.

I loooove Dire Straits....the sound of their music makes any road trip perfect ;-)
2009-11-17 17:09:00
Mine is Dire Straits. And I don't mind Cat Stevens either... :)
2009-11-17 12:38:42
or maybe Green Day ;-) :P (which is one of my favorite punk rock bands)
2009-11-17 12:21:05
Naw, he's too young to listen to Doris Day or Elvis. I think he's listen to blues or jazz.
2009-11-17 08:02:47
Maybe he's listening to 'How much is that doggie in the window' or 'You ain't nothin' but a hound dog'... :)
2009-11-17 02:41:01
Do you know what kind of music he listen?
2009-11-17 02:25:44
