Coy, this is a great picture, but actually it was taken at Tejon Pass which is about 5 miles from Gorman and 1500 feet higher in elevation. This is a very short distance from where I have lived for the last 30+ years. These mountain hilltops are certainly beautiful when the lupines are in bloom like this, but it only rarely happens when conditions are just right. Only a half a dozen times since I have lived here. The lupines and other flowers will bloom in May if the spring rains have been particularly heavy. It also seems important that the grasslands have burnt-over the previous year.
