PictureGirl, Happy Jack, others. This insect is from one of the 'shield' bug families, but definitely not the Pentatomoidea (as suggested by PictureGirl). The Pentatomoids receive their name from having five segments in their antennae. One thing clearly seen in this insect is THREE segments. Stink Bug is a vernacular term and subject to different usages, but I would not consider this particular bug to be a 'stink bug' and doubt if it would have the strong odor usually associated with them. In fact this could well be one of the 'shield' bugs that is frequently eaten by the Laos natives.

That's ok, Happy Jack. Maybe someone in Pixdaus Land can help to identify this bug for us... :)
