There was nothing quiet about my camera skidding towards poor Marie's bed ;-) She's still recovering from her ordeal and wants peace. Maybe her spirit caused this to happen...revenge against us Frenchies. She was Austrian don't you know. Actually, I saw the plaque where the king and her about a year later were Place de la Concorde.

Sorry you lost your camera. But I must say that's quiet a story. ;)

Thanks jacksparrow. I had a wonderful month in France - heat wave in Paris. But my camera is toast. As I was taking a picture of Marie Antoinette's bed in the Petit Trianon at Versailles, someone banged against me and I saw my camera skid towards Marie's bed. I looked at the guard and he just shrugged. So, I carefully got on my hands and knees - crawled under the rope towards Marie's bed to retrieve my camera, then crawled back. A Brit looked at my camera and said 'It's toast'. Another guy, German I think, said 'It's a goner'. I think there is far too much American slang in Europe ;-) Anyways, if you're going to loose your camera, might as well loose it to Marie Antoinette.

I think it stands for White Castle - home of the belly bomber or slider -call what you will -wouldn't want to be trapped in a closed car with a bunch of people after eating them.

Water Closet - toilet or restroom in England. Sometimes also called a "loo".
